Earth Hour 2010

here am I blogging from my mobile phone to participate in Earth Hour 2010, in a bid to create awareness on the world's carbon footprint. This is the first time I'm participating from home, over the last few years, I'm always out and about.
Many may think earth hour is stupid and doesn't create any effect at all. We can't change the amount of pollution overnight but the best we could do is do create awareness amongst those who doesn't believe in climate change.
Resources will be used up one fine day. Does anybody stop to think what if one day, we run out of materials like petrol, coal and natural gases. These materials takes millions of years to create and at the rate we are utilising them, i'm sure the demand level is much higher than the supply level.
Hail storms in the city, tsunami, massive earthquakes. These are all deemed as natural disasters but I strongly believe the world is like a oven with all the emissions and pollutions, waiting to blow up and the changes in climate are warning signs.
As I said previously, and I stressed that again. I'm not promoting full-on going green. But there are some things in everyday life that we can live w/o and be able to take the effort to switch it off when not in use. For example
- printing both sides. Even the bible and newspapers are printed in both sides
- switch off main powers/standby modes when TV, Radio, Computers, Modems are not in use
- less plastic bags please, especially those with cars.
- recycle whenever possible.
Every little action goes a long way if everyone practices it
